Description and purpose

What SIKG is

Gas quantity and quality parameter measurement system (Gas metering system) is a set of measuring instruments (MIs), process and auxiliary equipment designed for automated custody transfer or operational metering of associated petroleum gas and natural gas by ultrasonic, rotary, vortex or turbine flow meters, or by the differential pressure method, between the delivering and receiving parties in accordance with the requirements of GOST R 8.733, GOST R 8.740, GOST R 8.741 and STO Gazprom 5/37-2011.

  • Custody transfer or operational metering of associated petroleum gas and natural gas
  • Ultrasonic, rotary, vortex, turbine and orifice metering methods
  • Gas quality parameters: composition, density, calorific value, Wobbe index
  • Metrological support of measurements and a full package of documentation
Metering unit equipment: piping and shut-off valves

Composition

System composition

The composition is defined by the Customer’s requirements and the project. Below are the functional units of the system — click a unit to expand its description.

Metering line unit

The metering lines unit consists of inlet and outlet headers and metering lines equipped with flow, pressure and temperature measuring instruments and, if required, isolation valves at the line inlet and outlet, control valves and filters. The metering lines unit is intended to measure the product flow rate, temperature and pressure and to transmit the corresponding signals to the data acquisition system. A gas sampling system (GSS) and/or a sampling device (SD) for taking product samples to the quality measurement unit (QMU), if required, is installed on the metering lines header.

Determination of the numerical uncertainty (error) values of the results and other metering system parameters is performed using the "Rashodomer ISO" software package

Gas quality measurement units

Gas quality measurement unit (Quality measurement unit) is a redundant set of in-line gas analyzers and process equipment:

  • Gas sample conditioning system
  • Gas supply and calibration unit (cylinders with helium, compressed air, nitrogen and calibration mixture)
  • Industrial process chromatograph for automatic cyclic measurement of gas composition and calculation of density, volumetric calorific value and Wobbe index. At the Customer's request, a separate chromatograph can be used to determine sulfur-containing components of the gas and their parameters
  • In-line density meter
  • Water and hydrocarbon dew point analyzer, or gas moisture meters
  • Oxygen analyzer
Operator room unit

Operator room unit is intended to house the equipment of the data acquisition system and is a factory-complete block-box with interior finishing and lighting, heating, ventilation, security and fire alarm systems.

Data acquisition system

Data acquisition system (DAS) — is an element of the gas quantity and parameter measurement system intended for automated execution of the functions of collection, processing, display, recording and storage of information based on measurement results, and for controlling the operating modes of the gas quantity and parameter measurement system. It is assembled in standardized instrument cabinets and comprises a set of functionally related components: a measuring and computing complex (flow computer), a control controller, secondary instrumentation of the measuring instruments, uninterruptible power supplies, automatic standby power transfer, and system and application software. The DAS also includes the required number of operator workstations (AWS) in desktop design or in cabinet design with a touch control panel. The DAS is intended to receive signals from sensors, instruments and assemblies of the metering system process skids, perform metering operations, display information on the monitor, archive data, control operating modes, generate and print reports and protocols, and transmit information to the Customer's upper-level systems.
