Measurement of pharmaceutical media

Mass-EXPERT Coriolis flow meters provide high-accuracy measurement of a wide range of pharmaceutical liquids — from high-viscosity substances to purified solvents.

Active pharmaceutical ingredients (API)

Dosing of active ingredients in strict compliance with the formulation. High viscosity and a tendency to crystallize do not affect the accuracy of Coriolis measurement.

Paracetamol (APAP) Ibuprofen (IBU) Acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) Metformin (MET)

Purified water (WFI)

Measurement of water for injection (WFI) and purified water at all stages of pharmaceutical production — from media preparation to final equipment rinsing.

Water for injection (WFI) Purified water (PW)

Solvents and reagents

Ethanol, isopropanol, acetone, methanol and other organic solvents used in API synthesis, extraction and purification. Accurate dosing minimizes losses of expensive reagents.

Ethanol (EtOH) Isopropanol (IPA) Acetone Methanol (MeOH)

Buffer solutions and excipients

Phosphate buffers, saline solutions, lactose, starch, PEG, glycerine, suspensions and emulsions. Measurement is independent of density and viscosity fluctuations.

Phosphate buffer (PBS) Saline solution (NaCl 0.9%) PEG Glycerine

Standards and hygienic requirements

Pharmaceutical production places the highest demands on cleanliness, sanitation and traceability. Mass-EXPERT complies with key industry standards. For Russia, Expert Conclusion No. 299 on compliance with the Common Requirements of the Customs Union is available.

3-A hygienic design
L-type (straight-tube) sensors with smooth surfaces and no dead zones. Complete drainage and no crevices. U-, W- and V-type sensors and the micro-flow D-type are also available in hygienic 3-A design.
Ra ≤ 0.8 µm
Mirror polishing of contact surfaces prevents adhesion of microorganisms and facilitates CIP/SIP cleaning.
CIP/SIP compatibility
The straight-tube design without bends ensures efficient circulation of cleaning and sterilizing media.
Tri-clamp / SMS
Hygienic connections for quick installation, dismantling and sterilization without special tools.
Advantages

Why Mass-EXPERT for pharmaceuticals?

Coriolis direct mass measurement technology — the ideal solution for strictly regulated pharmaceutical processes

0.1% dosing accuracy

Deviation of the finished product composition is minimized. Critical for expensive API: overconsumption of a substance by just 0.5% means millions in losses at batch scale.

CIP/SIP compatibility

L-type straight-tube sensors without stagnant zones drain completely and are easy to clean with steam and cleaning solutions. No hidden cavities.

Hygienic design

Compliance with 3-A standards. Contact surface roughness Ra ≤ 0.8 µm (mirror polishing). Complete drainage and no dead zones.

Independence from medium properties

Coriolis measurement determines mass directly, not volume. Density, viscosity, temperature, gas bubbles or solid inclusions do not distort the result.

Measurement traceability

Full measurement traceability, electronic logs, protection against unauthorized access to settings — for integration into validated pharmaceutical production systems.

Hygienic connections

Tri-clamp, SMS, DIN 11851 — any pharmaceutical connectors for integration into process lines without additional adapters.

Straight-tube L-type — the standard for pharmaceuticals

Stagnant zones where microflora can develop are unacceptable in pharmaceutical production. Straight-tube L-type sensors have no bends — the liquid flows through a straight pipe without turbulent eddies or hidden cavities. This ensures complete drainage, effective CIP/SIP cleaning and uncompromising cleanliness. Combined with mirror polishing (Ra ≤ 0.8 µm) and hygienic Tri-clamp connections, L-type sensors are suitable for contact with API and WFI in pharmaceutical production.

Micro flows — D-type (Δ) for micro-dosing

For micro-dosing of additives and high-value substances — the D-type (Δ) sensor, DN01–DN02: micro flows from 0.1 kg/h and minimal internal volume. The same mirror polishing Ra ≤ 0.8 µm and Tri-clamp hygienic connections.
